25 Years of Killer Vampire Fun
When Castlevania was first released in 1986, it was a mystery if this game would capture gamers the way Super Mario or Contra did.
But Belmont’s “Vampire Killer” whip, open-ended story line and hints of iconic horror cinema brought visitors back to Castlevania time and time again.
Innovative in many ways, Castlevania for NES became Konami’s flagship game.
25 years later, it is one of the most acclaimed and prolific video game series. Over 30 different versions of Castlevania have been released for various platforms.
The success of the Castlevania series has resulted in Guinness World Records awarding the series 7 world records in the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2008. These records include “Most Games in an Action Adventure Series”, and “Largest Number of Platforms for One Series.”
Gamers continue to remain faithful to Castlevania game, but the reason remains as much of a mystery as Dracula himself.
